Permits are required in Jackson Township for the following:

  • Any new building or structure - commercial or non-commercial requires a  Building Permit
     
  • A new septic system - Come to the Township office and pay appropriate fees
     
  • Alteration to an existing building that increases its volume requires a  Building Permit
     
  • Any swimming pool requires a Building Permit
     
  • Any signs or billboard - design must be brought to the Township Office (refer to appropriate section of the Zoning Ordinance)
     
  • Driveways - requires a Driveway Permit
     
  • Peddling and Door-to-Door Solicitation - go to the Police Department to obtain a permit and pay applicable fees. (refer to appropriate section of the Zoning Ordinance)
     
  • Demolition of structures - requires a Building Permit
     
  • Overweight vehicles - all township roads are weight restricted.  Please come to the Township Office to obtain an overweight hauling permit and/or post the required bond
  •  
  • Sheds and Accessory Buildings

 

  • Compliance with Jackson Township Zoning Ordinance and PA Uniformed Construction Act adopting the International Building Codes.  It is a violation if a permit is not obtained through the township.

 

  • Jackson Township has adopted the International Property Maintenance Codes for regulating and governing the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures; by providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation and use.

  • Jackson Township property maintenance code requires premised identification.  Buildings shall have approved address numbers placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the  street or road fronting the property.  These numbers shall contrast with their background.
