Recycling Program

Recycling is mandatory in the Township.  To purchase a bin, contact Jackson Township at 724-452-5581.  The cost for the bins is $4.00 each.  For services and schedules, contact your refuse hauler.

GENERAL RECYCLING INFORMATION:

  1. The items listed on this sheet are to be separated from the regular garbage and prepared as directed for recycling.
  2. The recyclables are then to be placed into the household's municipal recycling container in a "mixed" fashion.  This is known as commingled recycling.
  3. The container and recyclables should be placed at the curbside for collection in accordance to the schedule provided by your waste hauler.  A separate collection for recyclables will take place.
  4. If the container is not full, then it is not required to be placed out for collection.  If it is too full, then some items may be flattened to save space or another container of the household's choice may be used, provided that it is not larger than 20 gallons and is marked "recycling".  Recyclables are not to be placed in plastic bags.
  5. Items paced in the recycling container that are not recyclable or are not prepared properly may be returned to the household and should be discarded with the regular garbage.
